Whether you’re an talented writer, editor, or social media enthusiast, we offer various volunteer roles that allow you to contribute your skills while supporting independent queer media. Weekly Staff Contributor
Staff Writer (Weekly Roundup)
Description: We’re looking for a passionate, informed individual to join our team and produce a weekly roundup of current queer issues in brief. This is an excellent opportunity to:
- Build your portfolio and gain exposure in queer media
- Contribute to a meaningful project amplifying queer voices and stories
- Get hands-on editorial experience
- Someone with a deep interest in LGBTQ+ issues, media literacy, activism, and news
- Preferably a member of the LGBTQ+ community
- A strong writer who can produce clear, engaging summaries of key issues
- Availability to produce a short roundup each week (around 1,000-1,500 words).
Social Media Editor
Social Media Editor
Description: Are you passionate about amplifying queer voices and fostering community through social media? Transonic Media Labs (TML) is looking for a Social Media Editor to help manage and grow our online presence. In this role, you’ll create engaging content, interact with followers, and promote TML articles and initiatives across platforms like Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, as well as taking notes on current trends and using them to workshop editorial pieces. Other typical responsibilities include:
- Develop and schedule regular social media posts that align with TML’s voice and mission
- Engage with the community through comments, shares, and messages
- Promote new articles, news roundups, and other content
- Stay updated on trending LGBTQ+ topics and incorporate them into social strategies
- Collaborate with the TML team to brainstorm ideas for increasing visibility and engagement and crafting editorial policy
Resource Index Editor
Resource Index Editor
Description: The TML Resource Index Editor is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and consistency of index listings at Transonic Media Labs. This includes regularly researching and vetting new listings to ensure they meet established standards, manually adding entries as necessary, and updating outdated information. The role also involves ensuring the list is consistently tidy and user-friendly, paying close attention to formatting, relevance, and detail so that the resource remains both comprehensive, complete, and up-to-date. Other typical responsibilities include:
- Develop and schedule ways to promote the TMLri in posts and articles
- Promote new articles, news roundups, and other content
- Stay updated on trending LGBTQ+ topics and incorporate them into social strategies
- Collaborate with the TML team to brainstorm ideas for increasing visibility and engagement and crafting editorial policy

Description: Transonic Media Labs (TML) is seeking volunteer writers who are passionate about queer issues and ready to contribute thoughtful, engaging articles. This is a great opportunity to:
- Develop your writing portfolio with a focus on LGBTQ+ topics
- Work alongside a supportive, dynamic team
- Shape the narrative around issues that matter to the queer community
- Individuals with strong writing skills and a unique perspective on LGBTQ+ culture, politics, and current events
- Preferably members of the LGBTQ+ community, though allies are welcome
- Commitment to producing high-quality pieces, from news analysis to cultural commentary
- Availability for at least one article or piece per month

Description: TML is seeking a dedicated Profile Author to craft engaging, in-depth profiles on key figures, activists, and community members making a difference in the LGBTQ+ space. This is a fantastic opportunity to:
- Gain exposure and experience in feature writing and storytelling
- Spotlight unsung heroes and rising voices in the queer community
- Contribute to TML’s mission of amplifying diverse stories
- A passionate writer with strong storytelling and research skills
- Experience or interest in profiling and interviewing individuals
- Commitment to producing one profile per month (approximately 1,500-2,000 words)
These are volunteer roles for now, but it could grow into something more as TML expands.
